The Sid Valley Memory Café is a friendly social meeting place for people with all forms of memory problems, their families and friends and you are certain to meet other members who are facing the same issues as you. It is run by volunteers, some of whom have worked in the cafe since it first opened in 2010. They have gained specific experience, either through their working years, or through training.

We encourage carers and cared for to visit us together, because we think this helps their mutual understanding and to reconnect with shared memories and also because we cannot offer any kind of personal care. The Memory Cafe is not a drop in centre or day care facility for people with specific health needs. If you need more than we are able to offer, then we are happy to chat on the phone about where might be more appropriate for you.

If the Cafe is right for you, you can expect, in addition to a Big Welcome, plus tea and chat, a busy and varied programme of games, quizzes, bingo, musical entertainment and talks. It is also a chance to meet local health care professionals or, occasionally, to hear presentations from support associations.

Our programme includes outings for members, and from time to time we also organise special interest groups such as walking and gardening.
